Testicular sarcoidosis

چکیده
Urogenital sarcoidosis is very rare. To date, only about 60 cases have been described in the literature.1 This corresponds to only 0.2% of all cases of sarcoidosis diagnosed. When the urogenital system is affected, it is usually the epididymis that is involved, followed by the testis and vas deferens.2 Sarcoidosisealso known as Boeck's sarcoid or Schaumann-Besnier diseaseeis a rare chronic disorder (prevalence of 1e40 per 100,000 inhabitants) characterised by non-necrotising, epitheloid cell granulomas occurring in different organs.3 The aetiology is still unclear, with the onset of disease typically in young adults. Familial clustering is seen in 5e19% of cases, which is why a significant genetic background is assumed.4,5 The clinical picture can take on very different forms, since basically any organ can be involved. It is often a chance finding made during other diagnostic procedures.3

Sarcoidosis as a testicular mass.
Sarcoidosis rarely involves the testicle. Seven cases detected clinically were described in a review in 1986,1 and additional cases have been discovered on autopsy. Sarcoidosis involving the epididymis is a little more common, being found in somewhat less than 1 percent of all men with the disease. 1 We report a case of testicular sarcoidosis diagnosed after orchiectomy in a previously healthy ...
متن کاملExtensive Systemic Sarcoidosis with Testicular Involvement Mimicking Metastatic Testicular Cancer
Sarcoidosis is an idiopathic, multisystem disease that rarely involves the genitourinary tract. Here we present an unusual case of testicular sarcoidosis with extensive lymphadenopathy that mimicked a metastatic testicular tumor. A 27-year-old male presented with a palpable right testicular mass accompanied by multiple palpable inguinal lymph nodes. The scrotal ultrasound showed a hypoechoic le...
متن کاملPulmonary sarcoidosis associated with Leydig cell testicular neoplasm.
The first case of association between Leydig cell testicular tumor and sarcoidosis is reported. From a review of the literature, this is the ninth case of association between a testicular tumor and Besnier's disease. Lung biopsy should always be performed in patients with testicular cancer when retroperitoneal lymph node involvement cannot be demonstrated in order to avoid unnecessary antineopl...
متن کاملThoracic Sarcoidosis Mimicking Metastatic Testicular Cancer: Three Case Reports
Recurrence of testicular tumors in young males generally prompts rapid investigation and treatment. We report 3 patients with past histories of treated testicular cancer referred with radiographic evidence suggestive of intrathoracic metastases. In each case chest imaging demonstrated mediastinal/hilar lymphadenopathy. In one case pulmonary nodules were also identifi ed. In all three patients f...
متن کاملUsefulness of three-phase bone scintigraphy and SPECT/CT for the diagnosis of bone lesions of systemic sarcoidosis
We report a three-phase bone scintigraphy for the diagnosis of a peripheral bone lesion caused by systemic sarcoidosis. A 32-year-old man with suspected osteomyelitis of the right forefinger underwent three-phase bone scintigraphy with Tc-99m hydroxymethylene diphosphonate (HMDP) and single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT). The lesion was rich in blood flow acc...
متن کاملTesticular sarcoidosis masquerading as testicular carcinoma
We present a case of a 27-year-old man with a history of weight loss. A chest x-ray demonstrated hilar lymphadenopathy and he was treated with anti tuberculosis treatment. He noticed a painless left scrotal swelling and a scrotal ultrasound scan raised the possibility of testicular cancer. He underwent an orchidectomy and histology confirmed a testicular sarcoidosis. He was commenced on steroid...
